Aspiration for government jobs is mainly in the lower and middle classes. If you come from an affluent class or upper-middle class, then you will give a damn about government jobs.

However, aspiration for government jobs among the middle class and lower middle class is not without any reason. They definitely know private jobs are better than government jobs, then why are they interested in it?

Well! a government job or a Sarkari Naukri does have many benefits that a private job cannot offer.

I have found ten possible reasons that make complete sense why actually certain section of society is interested in government jobs.

Here are they:

Top 10 Advantages of Government Job in 2023

10 Best Advantages of Government Jobs

1. Every Month on Time Salary

on time salary

Whether the country is in a great economic depression or milk & honey are flowing on the streets, it does not matter. In both circumstances, you will get your monthly salary on time.

However, in a private job, a person will get his salary only if the company is making a profit, when the company stops making a profit, then there is no salary for employees.

Hence, people love Sarkari jobs because their salary is guaranteed every month.

2. Pensionable Till Death

Pensionable Till Death

The next great thing about a government job is you get a pension until you die. This is complete insurance for your life.

In fact, no private job gives you a pension, and you have to either save money while you are working or beg in front of your children.

A government employee never has to fear about his future. He or she can retire peacefully without bothering the future.

This is why people still love government jobs over private ones.

3. A Lot of Free Time

A Lot of Free Time

The workload in a government job is almost negligible. You get a lot of free time and can do other activities.

One of the best ways to utilize this time is by reading books and other such materials that can be helpful in the future. If you want to switch to other jobs, you will have ample preparation time.

Less workload means less tension when you come back home.

However, in private companies and other non-government jobs, you have to work more than 8 hours, and then your wage is decided. You have to toil day and night. You may get more money than a Sarkari Naukri, but you have to work very hard.

People love government jobs because of less workload.

4. Survive Without Any Skill

Survive Without Any Skill

Whether you work for one hour or 8 hours, you will get the same salary in a government job. Hence, people choose not to work and relax.

It does not matter whether you have any skills or not. No one will question you, and you will get your due salary. You can survive without any skill.

But in a private company, if they find out that you are not doing your work properly, then they will kick you out.

Moreover, in private jobs, there is also something called assessment. They assess you every week or month to determine whether you are capable enough to continue the work you have been given. If they find you do not have the necessary skills, you will also be kicked out.

5. Housing Facility

Housing Facility

In a time when paying for a mortgage is out of reach for many people. Prices are so high that people from the middle class cannot imagine affording a mortgage. Even renting a house is beyond their means.

But if you work for a government job, then you do not have to bother about mortgage or rent. In a government job, you will be provided with a housing facility.

You can live in government quarters without any tension of paying rent. And they are as good as an apartment in a posh locality.

You can save the same money that a person working in a private company has to pay for monthly rent. That amount of money could be quite large!

Certainly, this is a genuine reason why people still aspire to a government job.

6. Free Health Care

Free Health Care

We all know that day by day, health care for ordinary people is becoming out of their reach. Even people from the upper-middle class is finding it difficult to afford health care for their family.

But if you work in a government job, then the government will bear all your medical expenses, not just for you but for your entire family.

Even complicated surgeries, which could cost you thousands of dollars, would be done free of cost for a government employee.

The government would bear all expenses for the surgery. However, if you work for a private company, then you have to spend from your pocket.

This is why people love government jobs.

7. Get all Types of Allowances

Allowances

A job in the government sector would take care of all your extra expenses. From groceries to travelling, all expenditures will be subsidized by the government.

You will get a dearness allowance (DA) and Travelling Allowance (TA) to cover all your extra expenditure. It won’t hurt you, even if inflation is so high.

Moreover, you can travel anywhere in the country with a concession.

You will not find such concessions in private sector jobs. That’s why people still aspire to government jobs.

8. Get Maximum Vacations to Spend

Vacations to Spend

As I said earlier in this article, the workload in a government is much less. Hence, you get the maximum number of holidays in a year.

In a private job, you hardly get any holiday. In a year you get a maximum of 4 to 5 holidays. But in a government job holidays, you get in a year are greater than in any private job.

This is another reason why people want to go for government jobs.

9. Sense of Social Security

Social Security

If you get a monthly salary on time, a lifelong pension, medical facility, and other allowances, your life is much more secure than others working for private companies.

You enjoy a great sense of social security. You are in a position where you can live the rest of your life without tension.

The biggest fear in your life could be insecurity, and government jobs make your life socially secure.

10. Make Extra Money

I am not trying to teach you something illegal here. However, it is a reality that you have an opportunity to make money from under the table in government jobs.

However, although this is corruption, people still do it and make a huge amount of surplus money.

I am not saying this is an advantage of a government job, but unfortunately, this is a reality, and people love government jobs for this reason.

Conclusion

To sum it up, government jobs have many advantages for people in India. They provide job security, a regular income, and additional benefits. You can also count on retirement perks and healthcare.

These jobs come with a fixed work schedule, typically 9-5, allowing for a better work-life balance. Moreover, there are special opportunities for those who need them the most.

Government jobs exemplify a stable and honest work environment. In these uncertain times, opting for a government job is a wise choice for a secure and dependable future in India.

  1. Today either Govt job or the private job had their own importance. In every Job man has to do roles properly, Then the person will be happy. I have a dream to do a Govt job and get daily alerts from Jobads. Finally, No use settled with a private job.

  2. Although going through the article made my mind that a govt. job is good enough bt after reading all d comments it worried me that taking a promotion in govt. job is time taking and growth is limited.

  3. Everything is good…but the last one is very bad… brother in which u stimulate the corruption attitude…..u know why the gvt give us salary on time…thats for our work…then why should we need the extra illegal money….

  5. It’s not that government employees have less stress or something. They work equally hard. Moreover to get a job in govt dept isn’t easy. I don’t agree with the writer..!

  6. I worked in private sector for 8 years and is in Government for the past 1 year. Let me tell what i gained and lost both in private and Government.

In the private sector i had to work hard to achieve certain targets. I was paid good. But i could not spend my time with my age old parents and wife. Running, running running to achieve targets. Appreciation and money flow was there but what all i have to enjoy during a time frame i missed. At last all my savings was spent in hospital.
I got Government job at this time and let me explain my advantages. In private sector my routine day plan was fixed/decided by the company. But now i can plan my work . Today is my day and i have full authority on this day and plan my work accordingly (Flexibility in work and stress free). I am happy because i see colourful evening every day enjoying time with family. The same case with week ends. My medical expenses and my blood relation medical expenses will be taken care by Government (Reimbursement method).
My suggestion is at young age you may be energetic and you can take loads but after a certain period of age Government is safe. Once you enter into government sector you have the flexibility to apply for a long leave on loss of pay or deputation and you can move to some other sectors and later come back. But this is not possible in private sector.
Previously in private sector the stress level was so high and i had a restless sleep.
Now i can sleep peacefully as my job is secure and no need to fear anyone. I am answerable only to Government. I am proud to say that i am a Goverment servent.

  7. And the worst abt the reservation systm in getting govmnt job.u born as general and ur life will be over to secure cut-off marks.

  8. IN GOVERNMENT JOB “HORSE” AND “DONKEY” BOTH ARE SAME AND GETTING SAME BENEFITS. HERE CLEVER AND DULL EMPLOYEES BOTH ARE GETTING SAME BENEFITS, WHETHER THEIR PERFORMANCE IS GOOD OR NOT.

    1. Getting Govt job is itself a skill and you are much better than most of pvt employee that’s why you are in government sector .I am not teeling about those who have entered by bribe.2014 IAS topper Gaurav Agarwal (IIT +IIM) left job of crores to join IAS.

  11. the grass is always greener on the other side !
1.if no skills are needed…. why is it harder to get a govt job?
2.maximum holidays…. govt never sends u on paid trips to singapore or malaysia etc
3.house…. u need to wait 10 years at least to get govt quarters in good cities and they are like a century old… u don’t even have enough plug points to plug in ur equipments !!
4.no stress…. u cannot get promoted no matter how hard u work, u have to wait 5-10 years on an avg
5.health,… these days nobody pays thousands of dollars to hospitals … everybody gets cashless medical policies… in govt too ur premium is just deducted from the salary… u cannot choose ur hospital, its not cashless , u have to pay upfront and it is no easy task getting ur claim.

so my dear its a mixed bag…. both are good depending on ur point of view
